SUMMARY:Climbers Family Support Meetings - Saturdays
DESCRIPTION:A licensed professional counselor leads this weekly online support group for families impacted by a loved one’s marijuana use. This is a safe\, compassionate space where families learn practical recovery tools and gain support as they navigate challenges such as marijuana addiction\, psychosis\, hyperemesis\, self-harm\, or other harmful behaviors. \nWhether your family is taking its first small step or feels like you’re climbing a steep mountain\, every step matters. Each one can help restore connection\, strengthen relationships\, and improve overall family health. \nIn recovery\, families often learn the 3 C’s of addiction:• We didn’t cause it.• We can’t control it.• We can’t cure it. \nAt the Every Brain Matters Climbers Meeting\, we also explore a hopeful 4th C:How can we contribute in ways that support healing rather than harm?Through guided discussion and shared experiences\, families gain clarity\, confidence\, and insight into healthier responses and boundaries. \nWe encourage each family member to focus on their own recovery journey\, while allowing respectful cross-talk to share ideas\, experiences\, strength\, and hope. Every family heals at their own pace\, makes their own choices\, and is met with respect\, empathy\, and confidentiality. \nA donation is appreciated to help support the professional expertise and time provided\, but no one is turned away due to financial limitations.Suggested donation: $20 per person or $35 per family. A donation is NOT required to attend. \n🗓 Saturdays at 10:30 AM (Central Time) \nJoin us here:LINK TO REGISTER \nMeeting ID: 827 4437 2483Passcode: 170748

SUMMARY:Monthly Speakers Meeting- -Marti Roveda-Equanimity Parent Coaching
DESCRIPTION:In this new era of commercial marijuana\, families need support and hope. Please join us on the 2nd Wednesday of every month for messages of healing from the impacts of marijuana and the expanding drug crisis.  There will be a Q&A at the end of each meeting. This meeting may be recorded at the presenter’s discretion. \n\nMarti Roveda is the founder of Equanimity Parent Coaching. After her family’s experience with her only child’s high-potency THC use and substance use disorder\, Marti left a corporate career to dedicate herself fully to helping other parents facing the same frightening reality. \n\n\nShe now raises awareness of the impact of high-potency THC on the developing adolescent brain through parent coaching\, consultation with treatment programs\, and advocacy through community\, research\, and policy boards. \n\n\nMarti holds three certifications: Certified Parent Coach through the Jai Institute for Parenting\, Certified Parent Peer Specialist through Georgia DBHDD and GPSN\, and Certified Peer Coach through the Partnership to End Addiction. She founded the ARCH Parent Tribe\, a virtual parent support group for ARCH (Adolescent Recovery of Cumberland Heights) Academy and serves on the boards of The Connection Forsyth and Georgians for Responsible Marijuana Policy. \n\n\nHer mission is to ensure parents understand the risks of today’s high-potency cannabis products and have the tools\, support\, and confidence to lead their families toward healing. \n\n\nMarti is based in Atlanta\, Georgia. \n\nRegister for this meeting at this link. Once registered\, you will receive a Zoom link to join the meeting\, which you can save to your calendar. You will not be required to register again if you have already registered for a previous Speakers Meeting. If you have any questions\, please email us at info@everybrainmatters.org. \nThis meeting is free\, but donations are welcome to increase our effort to support and advocate for families impacted by marijuana.  \nLink To Register \nMeeting ID: 872 9417 0134\nPasscode: ebmsupport

This meeting may be recorded at the presenter’s discretion. \nThis month\, we feature Cannabis-Induced Psychosis to Healing: A Story of Recovery\, Faith\, and Community – Andew Scatena. \nI was on a path that could have ended in tragedy—losing my mind\, my ability to function\, or continuing to cause my parents deep pain every single day. At one point\, during the grip of my marijuana use\, I jumped from a three-story building. By all accounts\, I shouldn’t be here. But I am. I had become completely dependent on cannabis—living to use\, and using just to get through life—until even that stopped working. \nAfter my second episode of psychosis\, I finally got help at a treatment center in Prescott\, Arizona called Recovery in the Pines. By the love and grace of Jesus\, and through treatment and ongoing support\, I began to regain clarity\, stability\, and purpose. Today\, two years later\, my life is not only stable—it’s meaningful. My relationship with my family has been restored in ways I never thought possible. I tried to do this on my own before\, and it didn’t work. Real recovery came when I allowed others to help—when I became part of a community that truly cares\, supports growth\, and offers something far deeper than the life I was living before. Now I have the opportunity to help others. \nRegister for this meeting at this link.

SUMMARY:Monthly Speakers Meeting- Kristen Gilliland\, Ph.D.
\nThis month\, we feature Dr. Kristine M. Gilliland. \nKristen earned her Ph.D. at the University of Colorado\, Boulder in Organic Chemistry. She later served as an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Cal Poly State University\, San Luis Obispo where she taught Organic Chemistry\, Neurochemistry\, and the Chemistry of Drugs and Poisons. After Kristen’s 17-year-old son\, Anders\, developed schizophrenia – which was most likely associated with high-potency (THC) cannabis use in his early teens – Kristen joined the Warren Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery at Vanderbilt University (2018). At Vanderbilt\, she researched new antipsychotic treatments for schizophrenia. During that same year\, Kristen delivered a TEDx presentation titled Rewiring Revolution: Neuroplasticity’s Impact on Wellbeing. Tragically\, Kristen lost her son to an accidental overdose in 2019 after his mental health severely declined\, and he became addicted to opioids and stimulants. \nTwo years after her devastating loss\, Kristen changed the trajectory of her life to utilize her scientific teaching and research skills to educate adolescent-aged children and their caregivers on mental health challenges and how it can lead to substance use and selfharm. As the Director of Outreach and Advocacy Programs and Assistant Professor of Research at the Warren Center\, Kristen presented to youth\, caregivers\, legislators\, and law enforcement about the impact repeated stress\, social media\, screen time\, and substances have on the developing adolescent brain. In addition\, she developed a multi award-winning educational documentary aimed at youth titled “Speaking Through Me” that was released August 2023. \nKristen has appeared on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and NewsNation: Elizabeth Vargas Reports regarding increased psychosis risk with high-potency cannabis use during adolescence. In 2025\, the overwhelming desire to reach more youth called Kristen to launch the non-profit “22 Forever” in memory of her son\, Anders. As the President and Executive Director of 22 Forever while continuing as Assistant Professor of Research at Vanderbilt Medical School\, Kristen delivers adolescent brain health presentations both nationally and internationally. In addition\, 22 Forever’s mission includes empowering young minds through a middle school curriculum that educates on optimizing brain health and well-being during this opportune time of adolescent neuroplasticity. \nRegister for this meeting at this link. Once registered\, you will receive a Zoom link to join the meeting\, which you can save to your calendar. You will not be required to register again if you have already registered for a previous Speakers Meeting. If you have any questions\, please email us at info@everybrainmatters.org. \nThis meeting is free\, but donations are welcome to increase our effort to support and advocate for families impacted by industrialized marijuana.  \nLink To Register \nMeeting ID: 872 9417 0134\nPasscode: ebmsupport

SUMMARY:Climbers Family Support Group - Wednesdays
A donation is NOT required to attend \n🗓 Wednesdays at 7:00 PM (Central Time) \nJoin us here:LINK TO REGISTER \nMeeting ID: 827 4437 2483Passcode: Climbers

SUMMARY:Monthly Speakers Meeting- Tim Scott-recovery cannabis psychosis
DESCRIPTION:In this new era of industrialized THC\, families need support and hope. Please join us on the 2nd Wednesday of every month for messages of healing from the impacts of marijuana and the expanding drug crisis.  There will be a Q&A at the end of each meeting. This meeting may be recorded at the presenter’s discretion. \nThis month Tim Scott will sharehis story. He states: \n“In late May of 2020 I had a psychotic break from vaping marijuana and was hospitalized after my suicide attempt. After my hospitalization I had no more delusions and slowly my brain got back to normal. I had 3 more mental hospital visits (September 2020 for depression: the rebound from the mania I had earlier that year. Jan of 2022 for mania with suicidal idealations: i started smoking pot again because my therapist had me convinced their must have been something in the vape cartridge that made me go psychotic. Apparently he didnt realize marijuana could cause psychosis. In that hospitalization was when I learned pot was a trigger for my mania(i’m bipolar). I stopped marijuana altogether after that hospitalization. In November of 2023 I was hospitalized for anxiety. I actually thought I was going psychotic again\, and was scared that my brain might go back to the final delusion I had when I tried to commit suicide back in June of 2020. \nI havent touched pot since the hospitalization in Jan of 2022 and i’m stable. I’ve been stable (not manic) since November of 2024 when my mania suddenly stopped. \nMy book\, A Story That Must Be Told: A Memoir of Marijuana-Induced Psychosis\, covers my psychotic break. I just started a follow-up book that goes more into my mental health journey as a whole and the knowledge I’ve learned along the way. \nRegister for this meeting at this link. Once registered\, you will be sent a Zoom link to join the meeting that you can save to your calendar.
