SUMMARY:Young Adults’ Cannabis Recovery Support Meeting

Action. \n\n\nThis meeting will be held online on the 2nd Wednesday of the month starting August 14\, 2024\, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm Central Time. SUMMARY:The Parent Action Network - Crissy Groenewegen
DESCRIPTION:In this new era of industrialized THC\, families need support and hope. Please join us on the 2nd Wednesday of every month for messages of healing from the impacts of marijuana and the expanding drug crisis.  There will be a Q&A at the end of each meeting. This meeting may be recorded at the presenter’s discretion. \nThis month we feature the Parent Action Network. \nThe Parent Action Network (PAN) is a grassroots initiative of Smart Approaches to Marijuana that seeks to raise the voices of families who have been negatively impacted by the legalization and commercialization of marijuana\, especially today’s high-potency products. Through their trainings PAN equips families with the tools and resources they need to tell their stories and enact change. PAN educates parents and families on current issues\, arming them with science-based facts\, and empowering them so they have the confidence and tools to encourage decision-makers to make informed drug policy decisions that protect our public health and safety. In this presentation\, you will learn the ways in which you can get involved with PAN and advocate on Capitol Hill and in your own states and communities. \nCrissy Groenewegen serves as the Director of the Parent Action Network. She is the former Director of the only non-profit agency in Dutchess County\, NY\, dedicated to preventing youth initiation into substance use and misuse. She is a skilled prevention specialist\, experienced at building the capacity of small grass roots community groups and movements. She is passionate about making a difference in our communities and working to make our neighborhoods safe for youth and families. The decision to take on this role comes from a place of great respect for the advocacy work that SAM does. She shares SAM’s mission and vision of creating a network of parents and families who will be able to tell their stories\, and in turn educate lawmakers\, and advocate for safe policies surrounding the issue of legalized marijuana and the dangers of today’s high potency THC products. Crissy is the mother of three adult children and the proud grandma to her only grandchild\, Ethan! She lives in Dutchess County\, NY with her husband and their pets. \nRegister for this meeting at this link. Once registered\, you will be sent a Zoom link to join the meeting that you can save to your calendar. You will not be required to register again if you have already registered for a previous Speakers Meeting. SUMMARY:Climbers Family Support Group
DESCRIPTION:A professional counselor leads this weekly online support group for families affected by a loved one’s marijuana use. Participants learn recovery tools that empower them to take the next step while navigating through marijuana addiction\, psychosis\, hyperemesis\, self-harm\, or other destructive behaviors. Whether families decide to take small steps or hike the mountain\, each step counts and can positively impact their families’ relationships and health. \nIn the world of recovery\, families learn the 3 C’s about the disease of addiction. \nWe didn’t cause it. \nWe can’t control it. \nAnd we can’t cure it. \nIn the Every Brain Matters Climbers meeting\, we talk about a 4th C. How do we contribute to it positively or negatively? It’s difficult for families to know what that means\, so by discussing these situations\, we gain clarity on the best response for our families. \nWe encourage each family member to work on their own recovery program. We allow cross-talking to share ideas\, experiences\, strength\, and hope. Every family makes their own decisions and heals at their own pace. We respect the feelings and privacy of those attending our meetings. \nWe ask for a donation to compensate for the professional expertise and time we provide\, but this is not a requirement to attend. The suggested donation is $20.00 per person or $35.00 per family. Join us every Wednesday at 7 pm central time zone. \n  \nLINK TO REGISTER \nMeeting ID: 827 4437 2483\nPasscode: Climbers

SUMMARY:Every Brain Matters Speakers Meeting - Dr. Josef
\nThis month we learn from Dr. Josef. \nDr. Josef Witt-Doerring is a psychiatrist renowned for his expertise in the field of drug tapering and withdrawal management. He is concerned with the rise of cannabis use and its association with psychosis and schizophrenia. With years of experience in clinical psychiatry\, he has developed a particular interest and specialization in assisting patients with the safe and effective tapering of psychiatric medications. His approach is patient-centered\, focusing on individualized plans that prioritize the patient’s well-being and functioning. \nRegister for this meeting at this link. Once registered\, you will be sent a Zoom link to join the meeting that you can save to your calendar. You will not be required to register again if you have already registered for a previous Speakers Meeting. If you have any questions\, please email us at info@everybrainmatters.org. \nThis meeting is free\, but donations are welcome to increase our effort to support and advocate for families impacted by industrialized marijuana.  \nLink To Register \nMeeting ID: 872 9417 0134\nPasscode: ebmsupport

Participants may only attend if they respect the speaker’s anonymity. \nAlex will speak about his recovery form cannbis use disorder and cannabis-induced psychosis. \nHi\, I’m Alex\, and I went through psychosis as a daily marijuana user. I am here to share my story\, hoping to educate those who still use and show support to those who have been through similar struggles. I have been going to Narcotics Anonymous meetings as well as Mar-Anon meetings to work through my recovery \nRegister for this meeting at this link.
