SUMMARY:Every Brain Matters Monthly Speakers Meeting- Lauren B.
DESCRIPTION:My name is Lauren. Marijuana has damaged my life in many ways. I have substance use disorder. I started using marijuana at the age of 14 and by 17 my drug of choice was heroin. I have bipolar and an anxiety disorder and when I used marijuana it would often send me into panic attacks and episodes of mania\, and worse\, marijuana caused me to experience psychosis. I have been in recovery for the past two years\, but I have struggled the most with my dependency to marijuana. Marijuana was not a harm-reduction drug for me\, it always led me back to heroin. Many nights I contemplated taking my life and even attempted to a couple of times.  Overcoming my addiction has been by far the hardest thing I’ve had to do. I have been in two psychiatric wards and seven rehabilitation centers. I’ve had hours of therapy and I work an AA program where I have been able to find peace and the ability to live sober. I am currently in school getting my LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor)\, so I can help other addicts find the same serenity I have. Please join me on December 2nd to hear my experience\, strengths\, and hope. \nJoin us on the first Friday of every month for messages of hope and healing from the impacts of marijuana. We welcome a different speaker every month who will share their experience and provide pathways to find serenity as we navigate through today’s pro-marijuana/drug culture. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one or trying to recover yourself\, this meeting is for you. You will be a Q & A at the end of each meeting. This meeting is appropriate for all family members ages 16 and up. \nLink To Meeting \nMeeting ID: 872 9417 0134\nPasscode: ebmsupport \nEvery Brain Matters Recovery Community is built on a foundation of love\, willingness\, and HONESTY. We seek to create a culture of healing. \nThe expansion of marijuana is negatively affecting people in many ways:  addiction\, psychosis\, suicide\, homicide\, DUI’s\, Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome\, and other incidents of injury or trauma resulting in harm or death\, overdoses\, and where marijuana was a gateway\, companion\, and/or relapse drug. \nThis meeting may be recorded with the presenters’ and the participants’ permission.
