My son was an adventurous, free spirit with a promising future. He loved to explore new places and was happiest traveling the open roads with the wind in his hair and listening to music.
At 18, using Delta-8 only once instantly changed his entire life. He was rushed to the hospital because Delta-8 put him in cardiac arrest. The paramedics thought he was going to die. In the ER, after the medical stabilized him, he was delusional and hallucinating.
Even though he was not mentally stable, they discharged our son, and we took him home.
It has been three years, and our son fears leaving our home. The open roads he once loved are now his worst enemy. Delta-8 not only almost took his life, but it also took his freedom. It took the freedom of his mind, freedom to have solace and to be alone, and freedom to live a life he once loved. It has robbed him of his happiness and outgoing spirit.
Our son is trapped in fear, anxiety, depression, anger, confusion, and obsessive thoughts that seem never to leave. We spend our days trying to control these thoughts and unexplainable fears with therapists, all due to delta -8.
He is now fearful, not fearless.
Delta-8 took our freedom as parents. The memory of my son fighting for his life is a constant vision that plays on repeat in my mind. I witnessed my child’s milestones and dreams shatter in seconds. I watch him transition from a healthy, growing young man to now deteriorating physically and mentally. I saw the joy, hope, and happiness being sucked from his eyes and replaced with sadness, fear, and confusion.
My whole family had to learn who this new person is and how he thinks and reacts. We all tiptoe through this unknown and unwanted territory we call life. Honestly, we aren’t living; we are all trying to survive.
I want all the Delta-THC products banned so no one else has to experience this hellish nightmare.
The people making these products legal and calling them safe are to blame. I challenge them to visit the thousands of families harmed and educate themselves on the actual mental and physical effects. If, for some reason, their decision did not change and they still wanted Delta-8 to remain legal, then their motives would only be made clear.
